This Saturday marks the 113th annual game between the Army Black Knights vs the Navy Midshipmen from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia PA. The game also marks the 84th time that the city of Philadelphia will be hosting the game. Navy has won the last 10 games vs Army. Navy currently leads the all-time series with a record of 56 wins, 49 losses, and seven ties. The last time that Army won against Navy was in 2001& it was the last Army-Navy tilt contested at Veteran Stadium. The winner of Army Navy game gets the Tompson Cup, named after its donor Robert M Thompson.
In 2009, the Army Navy game was moved from the first Saturday in December to the second Saturday; this means that it will no longer conflict with conference championship games and once again is the last regular-season contest in college football.
Most years in the Army navy game the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy is in play, it gets awarded to each season’s winner college football triangular series among the teams of the United States Military Academy (Army Black Knights), the United States Naval Academy (Navy Midshipmen), and United States Air Force Academy (Air Force Falcons). This year the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy will be in play this year since Army & Navy each beat Air Force.
CBS Sports will broadcast the game Nationally with Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, Tracy Wolfson calling the action starting at 2:30PM when CBS will show the March on of Army Cadets & Navy Midshipmen.
