Ohio State coach Urban Meyer will be placed on paid administrative leave while the school investigates what Meyer knew of accusations of domestic abuse against receivers coach Zach Smith between 2015 and earlier this year. Independent journalist Brett McMurphy published the pictures and text messages that he said shows Meyer and other coaches knew of the incident.
McMurphy's report goes on to detail the alleged 2009 domestic abuse incident while Courtney was pregnant, as well as many other details on the story. I said that's fine, you should tell Urban.
The head coach claimed last week that he had no previous knowledge of the incident. Ohio State begins practice Friday and opens the season September 1 against Oregon State.
Ohio State may be in violation of Title IX, which states: discrimination on the basis of sex, can include sexual harassment, rape, and sexual assault.
Last week during Big Ten Media Days, McMurphy reports that Urban Meyer said that he did not know about two domestic violence incidents in 2015 that allegedly involved Zach Smith.
According to a reported exchange between Courtney Smith and Lindsey Voltolini, Urban Meyer said Zach Smith had denied everything and that Urban Meyer didn't "know what to think". Her husband is also mandated to report. Once again, there's nothing - once again, I don't know who creates a story like that ... "You should tell Urban.' We can't have somebody like this coaching young men". Zach Smith was never arrested or charged in any of the Powell incidents, and his attorney Brad Koffel released a statement to ESPN saying Zach Smith would respond to his ex-wife's allegations in court.
Specifically, Courtney said she informed Shelley Meyer, Urban Meyer's wife of almost 30 years, about what was happening.

The natural disaster has killed at least 16 people and caused landslides but no Thais were reported harmed, according to reports. President Joko Widodo visited affected areas esterday and promised financial support for those who have lost their homes.
"I was never told about anything", Meyer reportedly said, "Never anything came to light, never had a conversation about it". Zach Smith pleaded not guilty last month.
"He called me and asked, 'How bad is it?'" Thomas told McMurphy. "She would reach out to me, ask me how I'm doing, tell me she was anxious, if I needed anything, she was there".
The only people who could possibly believe Urban Meyer's version of events at this point are the willfully ignorant and the irretrievably stupid.
"He took me and shoved me up against the wall, with his hands around my neck", Courtney said.
Meyer said he received input into the decision to fire Smith as well.
"When somebody is crying out for help, I believe the coach, along with the coach's wife, have a duty", Courtney Smith said in the Stadium video. "Instead of worrying about winning games or instead of worrying about who his mentor and who his family is and trying to protect that, somebody's safety and the safety of their children and the environment they're in needs to be more important".
