Now, it's important to understand that this is only a proposal; Trump's star is not being removed yet, but West Hollywood is asking Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Los Angeles City Council, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to make it so.

Yesterday, the West Hollywood City Council actually voted in favor of removing the president's star!

"The West Hollywood City Council did not pass the resolution because Donald Trump is a conservative or a Republican".

How should President Trump respond to the possible removal of his Hollywood Walk of Fame star? For example, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has previously said it does not remove stars from the walkway at all, an issue that also arose when Billy Cosby was accused of sexual harassment and assault by dozens of women. Hollywood Chamber of Commerce CEO Leron Gubler backed the notion by stating that all stars are part of the fixed landmark on Hollywood Boulevard.

Austin Clay of Glendale was charged on Monday in Los Angeles.

Hamill suggested that the destroyed star for President Donald Trump be replaced with one for his fellow Star Wars actor and friend Carrie Fisher.

Trump's star has been on the famous street since 2007, when Trump was honored for his work on Miss Universe pageants and NBC's long-running business competition show "The Apprentice".

Patricia Cox, a witness, told CNN affiliate KCAL/KCBS that she saw a man "going to town" on the ground "like it was his business just to be tearing up the ground", she said. In recent years, it has been vandalized several times and destroyed twice, most recently in July by a man with a pickax.

West Hollywood Council produced papers saying that a number of disturbing instances of Mr Trump's behaviour towards women had emerged during and after the 2016 presidential election campaign.

The star, though, is the property of Los Angeles city - not West Hollywood. "I think that violence will continue around the star and I think that's one of the reasons why it's so important to get it removed", said Clay, who turned himself into police following the alleged destruction.

Trump's star has since been repaired to its original state.
