Dozier to the Dodgers is a move that has been speculated about plenty.

Washington Nationals president and general manager Mike Rizzo says Bryce Harper will not be traded before Tuesday's deadline.

Forsythe, though, has not panned out in Los Angeles. Trade rumors attached them to Dozier before the 2017 season, but the Twins' asking price led to them making a deal to get Forsythe from Tampa Bay.

Dozier is batting just.224 but has 16 home runs and 52 RBIs this season.

Dozier departed Target Field soon after the deal was done in the afternoon, aiming to take advantage of the two-hour time zone difference and arrive at Dodger Stadium in time to be available to play for Los Angeles sometime during the game against Milwaukee.

On Monday, Dodgers fans got their first live look at Manny Machado. Team officials said the Twins received infielder Logan Forsythe, first base/outfield prospect Luke Raley and right-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer in exchange for Dozier. Signaling the front office's shift in focus to the future amid a disappointing season, Dozier followed starting pitcher Lance Lynn, relief pitchers Zach Duke and Ryan Pressly and infielder Eduardo Escobar out the door.

Raley, a first baseman-slash-outfielder, has spent the season in Double-A, hitting.275/.345/.477 with 17 home runs. The Twins received a total of 12 players in return, with Forsythe the only current major leaguer. This year, he's hit.207/.270/.290 (53 OPS+). He was ranked No. 19 in the Dodgers system by due to an assortment of average or better tools. Smeltzer, 22, has a 4.73 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP in his first Double-A season, and a 4.53 ERA overall in three seasons split between rookie ball, Single-A and Double-A.

The 27-year-old Gausman is 5-8 with a 4.43 ERA in 21 games started for Baltimore.

Raley, a seventh-round pick in 2016, is a more highly-regarded prospect. Which speaks to the level to which Dozier's value has fallen with his underwhelming performance in 2018. But power surges in the second half of the 2016 and 2017 seasons, and being in the final year of his contract, made the 2017 Gold Glover a prime trade asset for the Twins.
