England and India are now playing the 4th Test match in the series at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton.India came back strongly in the 3rd Test in Trent Bridge to make the series 2-1.

Joe Root has won all three tosses so far and if he does so again here, he has to have the stomach to bat.

Joe Root, the England captain, announced two changes on Wednesday to the team that suffered a 203-run defeat in the third Test at Trent Bridge.

Mind games have always been a part of cricket and Indian pace bowler Mohammad Shami in a psychological jibe ahead of the fourth Test match, said that he and his fast bowlers would target Jonny Bairstow's broken finger in the fourth Test match which begins at Southampton on August 30.

Root also confirmed that Jonny Bairstow will play as a specialist batsman and bat at number four, with Jos Buttler keeping wickets probably till the end of this series.

England lead the five-match series 2-1.

James Vince was recalled to the squad as batting cover if Bairstow is not fit to play.

The wicketkeeper was seen in long conversation with Trevor Bayliss, the England head coach, and Ed Smith, the national selector, during which he was seemingly told that it would be too much of a risk to keep wicket with a fractured finger. Obviously we'll know more later on today but the swelling has gone down and it's a lot better than I thought it was going to be.

With just three games played, United already find themselves six points behind Liverpool and local rivals Manchester City . He could be gone by the time we've finished this segment.

He was only back in the team in Southampton because of a last-minute injury to Chris Woakes and he vindicated his recall by helping to save England along with Ali, another player returning to the side.

The best of the action from day one of the fourth Test between England and India at the Ageas Bowl. "I think he could play for a good while yet which is really exciting if he can stay on the park and he looks desperate to do so", said Root.

Shami trapped Ben Stokes (23) leg before - like in the case of Root, England reviewed and lost - and then outsmarted the form batsman, Jos Buttler (21), who eagerly drove at a pitched-up delivery after scoring a boundary, only to nick to Kohli at third slip. At all times, you're not far away from playing.

You take Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav, whoever the bowler may be, we can do that (attack and contain).

"We under-performed last week, that's the bottom line".

# Interestingly, Virat Kohli fields an unchanged XI for the first time, after 38 Tests, under his captaincy.

"Seeing the way things are right now, we don´t feel we need to change anything", said Kohli, who scored exactly 200 runs, including a century, at Trent Bridge, having achieved the same feat at Edgbaston.
