Bears to acquire Raiders pass rusher Khalil Mack

Players like Khalil Mack aren't supposed to be traded. He's with a team that wants him and paid him in a historic way.

Multiple reporters all suggested that Mack could be traded by the Oakland Raiders this weekend.

But how did the Bears get so lucky?

There has been no single defensive player more disruptive against the Broncos over the last four years than Mack. The circumstances were almost identical to those of the Rams and Donald. It was clear a deal would be struck and Donald would be playing. There was, however, a tight one between Mack and McKenzie, who had talked for more than a year of retaining his star.

Mack was selected by the Raiders with the fifth overall pick in the 2014 draft out of Buffalo.

ESPN first reported the trade.

Does Gruden understand the inflation that has happened in the league? As the last few days unfolded, some more news was unveiled by Mike SIlver.

Coach Matt Nagy emphasized the Bears will be deliberate - smart, in his words - in getting Mack into football shape, just as they have been with holdout Roquan Smith.

NFL Media's Mike Silver says owner Mark Davis is not too interested in trading Mack while Gruden is open to it. "It was not the plan to trade him at all". The only man left standing is Chucky.

Think about Khalil Mack's weekend.

Prince Amukamara: "It was awesome". He simply is proving that he doesn't understand talent and positional value. The Bears play in one of the largest markets in the NFL. Those picks could very well end up being in the bottom 10 of the draft.

After all, Green Bay owns two first-round selections in the 2019 NFL Draft after receiving New Orleans' pick in a trade.

The Bears weren't the only team trying to land Mack. The Bears unloaded their 2019 and 2020 firsts, along with a 2019 sixth and a 2020 third.

This tweet here is meant to be a joke, but it has some validity to it.

But how much better does Mack make the Bears in 2018? Gruden now is doing everything wrong and seems to be headed in the opposite direction.

Between the picks and the money, that's an enormous price to pay.

Sources: The #Bears are giving 2 first-round picks to the #Raiders for star Khalil Mack. That compensation is laughable. That' just me. I've always thought of myself as the best defensive player in the league. Gruden is going to turn this franchise into a laughing-stock. Gruden and the Raiders might try to spin it otherwise. But it will come from the Bears, not from the Raiders. Millions of Raiders fans are still just waking up to the news and their reaction on social media has been as exciting as watching a Denver Broncos fan dive into The Black Hole.
