After walking off the 18th green, Woods was surrounded and hugged by other members of golf's elite, including Rose, the victor of the FedEx Cup playoffs, and Rickie Fowler, who was paired with Woods in the second round of this tournament.

"This is going to be up there with one of the better accomplishments I have had, " Woods said about the possibility of winning Sunday. "I hadn't won any tournaments in which they can remember, so I think this will be a little bit different for them".

When he got up to the green, Woods could finally survey the remarkable scene.

A Woods victory would be an 80th PGA Tour triumph and take him to within two wins of Sam Snead's all-time 82 Tour victories.

Woods, who finished with an 11-under-par aggregate 269, raised his arms in delight after the victory, with several thousand fans ringing the green roaring their appreciation.

"I was having a hard time not crying coming up the last hole", the 42-year-old golfer said. I've had hot weeks and you win, but - you can be in the midst of average play, but this comes through consistency for me.

'Now this is going to be one long flight overseas that I am going to enjoy, ' said Woods, before making his way to the airport.

He fired a 62 earlier this month and has also done enough to force himself into the US team for next week's Ryder Cup. Rose birdied the last hole to clinch the FedEx Cup.

"It was just a grind out there but I loved every minute of it", Woods said. It was Rose's worst round of the week by five, but it was good enough, and he became the second European victor of the FedExCup in the last three years (Rory McIlroy, '16).

Trump wants Spain to build a wall in Africa to stop migrants
Trump disagreed, according to Borrell's recollection, adding that "the Sahara border can't be bigger than our border with Mexico". President Donald Trump has expressed a renewed motivation to get Congress to fund his anti-immigrant border wall with Mexico.

1,199 - Woods' ranking in the world in November 2017.

"Some of the people that are very close to me, they've seen what I've gone through".

The former world No.1 played his final round alongside Rory McIlroy, whose own hopes of victory dissipated after he carded a disappointing 74, but was full of admiration for his one-time golfing idol. It was his first PGA win since 2013.

Rose, on the other hand, won the FedEx Cup and a $US10 million ($13.7 million) payday, with Woods finishing in second spot.

Woods' victory at the TOUR Championship capped a season of comeback victories that included Phil Mickelson at the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship and extended all the way down to Paul Casey, Gary Woodland, Kevin Na and Keegan Bradley.

Today (September 23), Woods overcame his struggles and won his first tournament since 2013.

"I've got a three-shot lead".

The 33-year-old was supporting her beau from the side of the green, and rushed to congratulate him on his win.

The next stop for Woods is to board a plane with the rest of his US teammates for France and the Ryder Cup.
