Trump was speaking at a rally in Missoula, Mont., where the president was campaigning for a Republican challenger to Sen.

All Americans should recoil from the president's praise for a violent assault on a reporter doing his Constitutionally protected job. Jackson denied allegations of misconduct and that he overprescribed medications, but eventually withdrew his name from consideration.

Tester's role was leading the investigation and releasing a list of allegations that had been compiled by the Democratic staff of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee.

President Donald Trump on Thursday heaped praise on a USA congressman from Montana who body-slammed a reporter during a campaign for a special election in 2017.

"Any guy that can do a body slam, he's my kind of guy", Trump told the crowd.

Trump commented at the rally that upon hearing of the assault, he thought it might hurt Gianforte's chances.
