Due to poor field conditions at Estadio Azteca, the game will now be played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles. "Until very recently, we had no major concerns".

"As a result, we have determined that moving the game is the right decision, and one that we needed to announce now in order to allow our teams and fans to make alternate arrangement".

The Rams and Chiefs are both 9-1, and concerns about the health and safety of their players could have cast a negative light on the game had the decision been made to keep the game in Estadio Azteca. Not many people are going to bat an eye if a game between, say, the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills is played in Mexico City.

The teams stand for the national anthem prior to the NFL International Series match between Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Chargers at Wembley Stadium on October 21, 2018 in London, England. Cruz Azul, the Liga MX soccer club that shares the stadium with Club America, played a tournament game on the field Saturday in noticeably poor conditions. But the field is an absolute wreck, and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, players from both teams have said that they are thinking about not even playing in the game if it does not get relocated. Now players on both sides can breathe easy that they are going to be able to play as normal without worrying about unsafe conditions just for the National Football League to host an worldwide exhibition.

The Rams are required to keep the Coliseum available as a backup in case of a problem with global games.

The Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots played a game at Estadio Azteca last season, but Patriots head coach Bill Belichick complained about numerous logistics and conditions for the game afterward.
