With third day box office collection for 2.0 from overseas and South Indian market, the film could easily get past the Rs 250 crore-mark even before its first weekend is over.
Jus In: In #Chennai city, #2Point0 takes All-time No.1 Opening for Day 1 - ₹ 2.64 Crs. As per the early estimates, the film has shown an enormous growth during the weekend and collected around Rs 25 crore nett on Saturday. Day 4 [Sun] should witness further growth. In TN as a whole, the film has grossed close to 18 CR which is Rajini's 2nd best opener in the state below Kabali, but Shankar's career best.
"2.0" is written and directed by S Shankar. "2.0" is a sequel to superhit 2010 Tamil film "Enthiran" which had Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. Amy Jackson plays a robot in the movie and is the only actress in the entire star cast of 2.0.
Although this production may not seem to be everyone's cup of tea, it still managed to have a massive opening at the box office, earning over INR20 million in Chennai alone on the first day of its release, reported India Today. The film has released worldwide on November 29. This is also the first time the actor will be seen playing a negative role in films.
Filmmaker Shankar's recently-released 2.0 is the costliest Indian movie made on an extravagant budget of over Rs 500 crore.
The Hindi version of the film has been appreciated and accepted across all Hindi circuits.
