Vladimir Putin sends New Year greetings to Indian leaders

The statement released by Kremlin read, "In a congratulatory message to President of the United States of America Donald Trump on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year holidays, Vladimir Putin emphasized that Russian-American relations are an essential factor in ensuring strategic stability and worldwide security, and confirmed that Russia is open to dialogue with the United States on the widest possible agenda".

"Vladimir Putin stressed that the (Russia-US) relations are the most important factor for providing strategic stability and global security", a Kremlin statement said.

In the annual summit here, India inked a Dollars 5 billion deal to purchase the much-vaunted S-400 air defence system from Russian Federation, notwithstanding United States warnings of punitive sanctions against nations doing military transactions with Moscow.
