In it, he alleges that American Media Inc., the parent company of the National Enquirer, attempted to extort him into intervening a Washington Post investigation into how the tabloid acquired intimate texts between Bezos and his lover Lauren Sanchez, which they published last month.

Bezos says that the Enquirer is threatening to publish even more embarrassing photos of him if he doesn't put a stop to an investigation now underway by a private investigator hired by Bezos.

Bezos declined to do so. In one, top Enquirer editor Dylan Howard appears to suggest that the tabloid would publish a series of salacious photos of Bezos and one of Sanchez if AMI's terms weren't met.

However, in the interests of expediating this situation, and with The Washington Post poised to publish unsubstantiated rumors of The National Enquirer's initial report, I wanted to describe to you the photos obtained during our newsgathering. "I hope common sense can prevail - and quickly". Cohen pleaded guilty to several federal crimes and admitted that he had made a deal, on Trump's behalf, in which the Enquirer helped Trump's presidential bid by paying $150,000 U.S. to former Playboy playmate Karen McDougal to buy and bury her story.

In a statement to the Post, AMI rejected the suggestion that any external forces influenced its reporting on Bezos, which it has described as its largest investigation, consuming four months and covering 40,000 miles. In exchange, the media group would refrain from publishing other texts and photos featuring Bezos, according to the email released by the Amazon CEO.

Mr Bezos notes in his blog post how the publisher confessed to the so-called "catch and kill" deal to bury Karen McDougal's politically embarrassing story.

De Becker and his team suspect Michael Sanchez, a talent manager who touts his support of Trump and is an acquaintance of Trump allies Roger Stone and Carter Page, may have provided the information to the Enquirer, the person said. AMI has not commented on the matter.

Valanciunas is a solid player, but he doesn't make much sense for the Grizzlies long term, and neither does Miles. The Hornets had been the favorite to land the Memphis big man, but Gasol is now headed to Canada.

According to messages shared by Bezos in a blog post, AMI offered to not publish the material if he agreed to back off an investigation of the newspaper company.

When Bezos didn't immediately respond, AMI put their threats in writing.

In January, Bezos announced his plans to divorce his longtime wife MacKenzie Bezos.

After the story ran, Mr. Bezos ordered his long-time security consultant, Gavin de Becker, to lead the probe into how the Enquirer obtained the lewd text messages.

Ronan Farrow says he's also been threatened by the National Enquirer following, Jeff Bezos' bombshell allegation that the tabloid tried to blackmail him with nude selfies.

"But", he continued, "I also won't participate in their well-known practice of blackmail, political favours, political attacks, and corruption". "It is unavoidable that certain powerful people who experience Washington Post news coverage will wrongly conclude I am their enemy", Bezos wrote. AMI later approached Mr. Bezos's representatives with an offer. President Trump is one of those people, obvious by his many tweets. Now that the world knows what the photos show and how they were brought to Bezos's attention, the Enquirer's decision to publish them would look that much sleazier.
