Lakers Offer New Trade Package for Anthony Davis

Reports Monday night suggest the New Orleans Pelicans are reluctant to deal their star before Thursday's National Basketball Association trade deadline, and the Lakers are now pessimistic they will actually land him.

The Lakers are now offering the Pelicans a package that includes forwards Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma, guard Lonzo Ball and two first-round picks, as well as a willingness to absorb the remaining $12.7 million on Solomon Hill's contract in the 2019-20 season, league sources told ESPN.

Davis deemed the deal worthy of a double tap on instagram, but apparently it wasn't enough for the Pels.

"Magic Johnson told New Orleans general manager Dell Demps Tuesday morning that Los Angeles had made its best offer that the Pelicans had wanted, but that the Lakers were not willing to add anything else and would be moving on, a person said", Turner wrote.

The Lakers have reportedly already made an offer to the Pelicans, but were basically laughed off the phone without a counteroffer.

As Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline approaches, reports and rumors continue to trickle out.

But with the Pelicans' exorbitant asking price, Davis may not be going anywhere. "Danny Ainge has, in other words, let it be known the Celts are ready to take their chances with keeping Davis beyond the summer of 2020 when he can become a free agent". Davis's father, Anthony Davis Sr., has also come out and said that he doesn't want his son playing for the Celtics.

Saturday, Punxsutawney (puhnk-suh-TAW'-nee) Phil emerged from his burrow in Pennsylvania at sunrise and didn't see his shadow. Whether or not he returns to his hole determines an early spring or prolonged winter.

Solomon Hill, whose final year at $12.7 million will give Pelicans salary relief.

Had the Lakers agreed to increase their offer, they would have essentially been trading two rosters for Davis; the one they have now and a future roster, given all of the draft picks that were asked for.

"They wanted more and more and more", one source said.

However the Pelicans had requested between 6 and 8 draft picks. But, make no mistake, Ainge will, under no circumstance, dangle Tatum in any possible Anthony Davis deal.

The New Orleans Pelicans would likely be wise in waiting until the off-season to trade Anthony Davis, if that's in fact what happens over the next few days.

"At this point, for the Pelicans, if they want to do anything by Thursday, they've got to be absolutely blown away".
