As the Lakers struggle to facilitate a trade for wantaway New Orleans Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis, James discussed the mid-game deal involving Barnes on Instagram.

Word of the trade started to leak during the Mavs' second half against the Charlotte Hornets Wednesday night at American Airlines Center.

In 48 starts for the Mavericks this season, Barnes has averaged 17.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

His caption read, "So let me guess this is cool cause they had to do what was best for the franchise right???" It was a weird scene though seeing a player get traded in the middle of the game, watching his former teammates on the Mavs sideline minutes after finding out he was now a member of a different franchise. "I'm ok with both honestly, truly am". "Just call a (spade) a (spade)!" he wrote.

Anthony Davis is now trying to get out of the New Orleans Pelicans with 18 months left on his deal, with James's Los Angeles Lakers bidding hard for the All-Star.

Barnes knew before the game that a trade to the Kings was imminent but still wanted to play. "I am going to miss him an very bad lot". He will join a Sacramento team (28-26) on the cusp of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. "That's really the first time I've witnessed it", said of seeing someone traded during a game.

Sacramento opened its trade season by dealing Iman Shumpert to Houston in a three-team deal that netted them Alec Burks, but Vlade Divac was not done bolstering their wing rotation. Nemanja Bjelica is the oldest and doesn't turn 31 until May.

The trade deadline has, somehow, still not passed.

It's possible they have $30 million! The cap hit for Sacramento is $24.8 million this season and $25.1 million for 2019-20.
