Shadowy Group Again Threatens Iran-Pakistan Relations

On Afghanistan, the Saudi Minister said Saudi Arabia was in favour of peaceful solution to the problem and was also facilitating the peace process in close coordination with the Afghan government, Pakistan, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Taliban.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) dismantled terror cells in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province and arrested several suspects linked to the recent deadly terrorist attack on border guards, official IRNA news agency reported on Monday.

He added that Pakistan sent a delegation on Sunday to Iran, voicing hope that the two sides would reach an agreement that would put an end to such terrorist attacks.

On Wednesday, an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into a bus carrying the IRGC personnel on a road between the cities of Zahedan and Khash, leaving 27 of them dead and 13 others wounded.

Guards commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari has accused Pakistan's army and intelligence agency of sheltering the jihadists.

Whether or not the latest attack is also a provocation on Iran by "Saudi and Emirati sponsors of Jaish al-Adl", Khaasteh said he expects Tehran to give a "short-term response" to demonstrate to the public that it is taking action.

The minister asked India to present "actionable evidence" of involvement of Pakistan-based groups in the Pulwama attack, if it had any, and assured that Pakistan would honestly investigate the same. Jafari said, "If Pakistan does not carry out its responsibilities, Iran reserves the right to confront threats on its borders based on worldwide law and will retaliate to punish the terrorists". "Just in the past year, six or seven suicide attacks were neutralised but they were able to carry out this one", Jafari told the mourners. The group Jaish al Adl (Army of Justice) claimed responsibility for the attack.

In 2013, the group abducted and killed 14 Iranian forces in an ambush near the Iranian-Pakistani border.

In a tweet, Mr Araghchi said, Iran and India suffered from two heinous terrorist attacks recently which resulted in big casualties.

Both India and Iran saw similar suicide attacks targetting their respective paramilitary forces earlier this week.
