The National Sleep Foundation suggests incrementally moving up your bedtime and wake-up time by about 15 to 20 minutes in the days before the time shift.

There's one massive objection to the idea of year-round DST: The already dark, cold mornings of fall and winter under standard time would become even darker and colder, and potentially unsafe for kids walking to the bus stop or to school.

Detractors, however, don't really see the need for it anymore. So while you might enjoy the extra daylight next week, be mindful about your heart and your driving. The Englishman published the 1907 brochure "The Waste of Daylight" and spent much of his personal fortune evangelizing with missionary zeal for the adoption of "summer time". They also spend more money, which is good for the economy. In fact, several attempts have been made in the past to change Daylight Saving Time for Arkansas.

History shows whatever effect DST had on the German war effort wasn't enough to help them win The Great War. States can adopt year-round standard time, but the federal Uniform Time Act does not now allow for year-round daylight time. But it still wasn't a universal practice. The practice fizzled out after the war until it was implemented again in World War II to save fuel and resources. But from then until 1966, cities and states were free to do as they pleased. According to The Franklin Institute, his piece, "An Economical Project", argues for the benefits of daylight hours, saying it would make Parisians more money.

While many people also cite the reason behind the time change as a way to help farmers with crops and harvesting, the truth is this was a myth created by the Chamber of Commerce to garner support for the concept.

DST is observed in almost all parts of the US except Hawaii and parts of Arizona, according to CNN.

Instead of rest, and in a somewhat surprising decision, Woods travelled directly to Mexico to play in the WGC Mexico Championship. Woods is an eight-time champion of this event at Bay Hill, but he won't get a crack at a ninth victory this time around.

- Two Mexican states: The border state of Sonora is exempted so it can stay aligned with Arizona.

Senator Lucido says because daylight saving time exists for 8 months of the year it should be the standard.

- Parts of Canada: There are a handful of small exceptions, and one large one. A full 56 per cent of British Columbians would prefer if B.C. remained on standard time year-round, like our Saskatchewan counterparts.

The switch to Daylight Saving Time can increase the risk of driver fatigue and crashes, but there are a number of ways to reduce the danger, an expert says.

Not ever place observes DST, however.
