Republicans pointed to denials by Trump Jr. that he received anything of real value or that he took any action after the meeting with what he received.

Tweeted Trump: "The Mainstream Media is under fire and being scorned all over the World as being corrupt and FAKE". He's consistently chafed at the media's poking around in things he'd rather they leave alone, his campaign included.

The report of a USA investigation headed by Special counsel Robert Mueller had found no evidence that Trump's campaign team "conspired or coordinated" with Russian Federation to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Mueller also investigated whether Trump obstructed justice but did not come to a definitive answer.

The president seemed to have heeded advice from allies, including Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., have encouraged him to use the political capital he's now gained to accomplish policy goals.

The chairman of the intelligence committee, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., stood up at the closed-door meeting and told his colleagues the most important thing now is the work on the ACA, according to those in the room.

Mr Trump said on Tuesday that "it wouldn't bother me at all" if the report were released but that it was up to Mr Barr. That's a chapter that's closed, " House Democratic Whip James Clyburn said on CNN.

But Mueller's report hasn't dissuaded some of Trump's fiercest critics among the new Democratic lawmakers who helped flip the House from Republican control. "The fact that Special Counsel Mueller's report does not exonerate the president on a charge as serious as obstruction of justice demonstrates how urgent it is that the full report and underlying documentation be made public without any further delay".

At a minimum, it strikes me as highly problematic to criticize others for shoddy journalism based on the Barr letter knowing that all the information needed to corroborate, or deflate, said criticism exists but has not yet been made public.

Trump called the revelations "a complete and total exoneration" and blasted Mueller's probe as "an illegal takedown that failed".

The Kentucky Republican claimed the Department of Justice needs more time to determine which parts can be released publicly, The Hill reported. Barr's letter states that Mueller's report "does not draw a conclusion-one way or the other-as to whether the examined conduct constituted obstruction".

"You can't move forward on a four-page memo", said Rep. Karen Bass of California.

"It hit me hard financially and led to baseless personal attacks", Rinat Akhmetshin told ABC News in a statement.

Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of DE said on CNN, "Mueller's report, at the least the summary that we've gotten from Barr, leaves wide open both the question of obstruction, and I think, makes it clear that other investigations should proceed".

Six House Democratic committee chairmen have written to Barr asking to have Mueller's full report by April 2.
