Members of Australia's ODI squad have provided an insight into the first meeting with banned duo Steve Smith and David Warner as their extensive reintegration process ramps up.

However, assistant coach of the Australia team and three-time World Cup victor Ricky Ponting feels that despite the returns of Warner and Smith, opener Usman Khawaja too deserves a spot in the squad for England and Wales.

However, the pair could be re-integrated into the squad ahead of the World Cup in England and Wales and Ashes series this summer, with both events live on Sky Sports.

"The boys have been very accepting of us coming in, with open arms. I am sure the fans will come out in big numbers and support us", Smith said.

"I'm tracking really well and I'm just excited to play again".

For Smith, it's a homecoming of sorts to the Royals set-up, which he was a part of in 2014 and 2015 before the franchise was suspended for two years along with Chennai Super Kings for a corruption-related issue.

"It seems like some really good energy among the team at the moment", he said.

Steve Smith here bowling during Sydney Sixers training a few days before Christmas said he feels there's good energy in the group

"Brothers leave home for different reasons in families so it's nice to have them back in there, they've been received really well, we had a good night together last night, we had some great meetings today so it's been really positive", Langer said.

Both Smith and Warner revealed that the big focus of their discussions with the team while in Dubai were around the values that have been instilled in the team in their absence following the sandpaper scandal in South Africa.

"I think Australia have just started to believe they can win again and I think other teams are now saying, 'Hang on, Australia might have just found something, '" Warne said.

"Hitting as many balls as I can, really, over the next week, getting myself into a good rhythm". It was confirmed earlier that Warner, who also underwent should surgery earlier this year, would be fit and available for selection in Sunrisers Hyderabad's first game of the IPL season, on March 24.

"Playing alongside Buttler will be great, batting with him makes things easier for me".

"They're excited and because they're so excited, their hunger for playing well, to make a lot of runs, to help the Australian cricket team be successful, as a coach when you've got two guys with as many runs and experience that they've got coming back into a team that is playing well - that's pretty exciting". I love the style of cricket they play, they're very well led by Eoin Morgan, and this is the best chance they've have had in recent times.

Punjab spent big in the player auctions, snapping up little-known Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy for $1.2 million - making him the top buy along with Indian paceman Jaydev Unadkat, who went to the Royals.
