As the name suggests, this new Echo Show 5 has a 5.5-inch display, which is almost half of what was on offer on the Echo Show.

The new Echo Show device also comes with additional privacy protections, having a built-in camera shutter, while still being able to talk to Alexa. Look for it to ship on June 26 in Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, the U.S., the UK, Spain, Japan and New Zealand.

It also has the same new smart home dashboard to control your connected devices, thousands of screen-based skills, customisable morning and evening routines and new privacy features.

Nonetheless, Amazon's new privacy efforts come after it was criticized for retaining voice recordings and corresponding text transcripts of the various requests Alexa users make to the assistant. As with existing Echo Show devices, a button electrically disconnects the microphone and camera.

In the coming weeks, Amazon says it will enable the command "Delete what I just said" to remove the recording of your last interaction with Alexa.

The retail giant said Wednesday that it tweaked its Alexa voice software to give consumers the ability to use voice commands to delete recordings of what they've said throughout the day.

Federer makes winning return, Kerber stunned in French Open opening day
I really don't know how far I can go in this event, and I am very happy with my first round. "I tried to roll out my usual game". The only Indian in the singles draw of French Open 2019, Prajnesh Gunneswaran lost 1-6, 3-6, 1-6 to Hugo Dellien from Bolivia.

The Amazon Echo Show 5 is available in Charcoal or Sandstone finishes, with pre-orders open now ahead of shipping next month.

Amazon has also announced a new smart home dashboard that's available on "all Echo Show devices", which is created to give more control over your smart home gadgets. That means you'll have to go into your Alexa Privacy settings page, review your voice history, and flip the toggle that says "Enable deletion by voice".

It should sound great too, if it delivers the "rich and full sound" Amazon promises, whether you're watching music videos on Vevo, or playing songs on Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, or Pandora.

As always though, the highlight of the new Echo device is Amazon's Alexa.

Speaking of Google: In many ways, the Echo Show 5 seems like an answer to Google's first smart display, which the company recently rebranded as Nest Hub.
