Inquiry will examine legality of origins of Russia probe

Barr has said that he expects the investigation of the inspector general to wrap up this month or in early June. "I'd wait for the outcome of that to determine if there needs to be more investigations".

Host Bill Hemmer said on "America's Newsroom" that Durham, the current USA attorney in the Constitution State, has been commonly described as a "bulldog of an investigator".

"You know what? I am so proud of our attorney general that he is looking into it".

Trump and his GOP allies also assert the dossier was the genesis of Mueller's Russian Federation probe.

A redacted version of his final report, released in mid-April, documented numerous contacts between Trump's campaign and Russian officials, but found insufficient evidence to substantiate a conspiracy between the campaign and Moscow.

"So if you are a Democrat, I think you would be really anxious to see the appointment of a career prosecutor like this".

Gowdy said Obama administration officials made no effort to corroborate the dossier's salacious claims against Trump before they used it to obtain warrants to spy on the Trump campaign.

The Republican-led House Intelligence Committee issued in a memo in February 2018 presenting evidence that President Obama's Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department submitted the Democrat-funded - and now debunked - anti-Trump dossier to a FISA court to obtain warrants to spy on the Trump campaign.

Joel Embiid leaves court in tears after Sixers stunned in Game 7
Prior to Embiid's emotional walk to the 76ers' locker room, Raptors center Marc Gasol stopped to console his All-Star counterpart. For all his struggles with health and conditioning this postseason, Embiid finished Sunday's game with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Nevertheless, according to a source familiar with the issue, Barr recently assigned Durham to examine the origins of the Russian Federation investigation and determine if intelligence collection involving the Trump campaign was "lawful and appropriate".

"Whoever is investigating this, tell them to look for emails between (then CIA Director John) Brennan and (then FBI Director James) Comey and December of 2016", he said.

Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal of CT on Tuesday called Durham, who is a federal prosecutor for CT, a "talented professional. a straight-shooting serious, smart prosecutor" who is being wasted in a "politically-motivated distraction". Durham's is the latest government investigation related to Russian interference in the 2016 USA presidential election.

"But I think it's a great thing that he did it", Trump said.

Meanwhile, the attorney general has continued to keep his promise to investigate the investigators.

Former Attorney General Janet Reno commissioned Durham to investigate the FBI's relationship with informant and Boston mobster Whitey Bulger in 1999.

She said that Durham - who's been a lawyer in the Justice Department since 1982 - has a "tremendous" background as a prosecutor. Note that Durham was most recently nominated by President Trump, but has been assigned to oversee special cases in this realm by three Attorneys General - two of which were Democrats.
