According to the New York Post, Harington has been attending the Privé-Swiss rehab center in CT for about a month after the end of Game of Thrones "really hit him hard", sources say.

During the documentary, a cast table-read runs through the show's finale, focusing on the death of the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, at the hands of Jon Snow.

His publicist confirmed to DailyMail.com that he had checked into the wellness retreat.

A statement released by a representative for Harington said "Kit has made a decision to utilise this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues".

It follows an earlier report in the NY Post that claimed that Harington had been working on methods to deal with "stress and negative emotions". "I walked in saying, 'Don't tell me, I don't want to know, '" Harington told Entertainment Weekly. Harington reportedly checked himself into the facility "weeks before" the show's May 19 finale.

"The end of "GoT" really hit Kit hard", a source tells Page Six.

"His wife Rose [Leslie] is being extremely supportive", the friend added. Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest. Yet after many viewers spent the final season bashing the show, the two-hour documentary served a dual objective, offering a reminder of all the grueling work that went into making it.

Perhaps we should have seen this coming. When you become the cliffhanger of a TV show, and a TV show probably at the height of its power, the focus on you is f--g terrifying.

We're sending out best to Kit at this time.

Given the stresses that likely came with being one of the world's most recognizable actors, it's easy to understand why Kit must felt the need to unplug for a little while.

'That was a time when I started therapy, and started talking to people.

"My final day of shooting, I felt fine ..." "How I feel about the show right now is quite defiant".
