Barr leaves his house in McLean, Va., on Thursday, the day he declined to show up for a House committee hearing.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler attends a news conference on April 9. Democrats refused to accommodate Barr because Raskin said there's a bigger constitutional principle at stake.
"He's being utterly contemptuous to Congress", said Cohen.
The Trump administration has made clear they're not going to play nice with Democrats' demands. He said that he was "absolutely" confident in his decision.
On Friday, Nadler made good on that promise. His exchanges with Mueller gave Barr no basis to know about any objection to his description of the report's findings - from Mueller or anyone else. Nadler threatened Friday to hold Barr in contempt if he did not comply with a final request to turn over the Mueller report and the relevant investigative materials.
"Lastly, it can not go unremarked that, in refusing to comply with congressional oversight requests, the department has repeatedly asserted that Congress's requests do not serve "legitimate" purposes", Nadler wrote. But with Trump resisting other congressional investigations, and testimony from Mueller likely on the horizon, the impeachment question seems unlikely to subside for long.
"I request that the Office of the Inspector General investigate whether the Attorney General has received or acted upon such improper requests", she said.
Democrats accused him of being afraid to face tough questions and one Congressman, Steve Cohen, brought a chicken statue and a bucket of KFC into the committee room.
There's talk of censure, a type of public reprimand that has little practical effect. He also asked that all members of Congress be allowed to review an unredacted version of the report.

Butler added 11 rebounds and handed out five assists for the Sixers, who led 51-38 at half-time despite 13 first-half turnovers. Popovich claims he's never heard of the one-time world chess champion, but he could be feigning ignorance.
Pelosi hasn't held back in her criticism of Barr, accusing him of committing a crime by lying to Congress about his communications with Mueller. Barr made that assertion despite a letter he received in March from Mueller complaining Barr's summary didn't fully capture the "context, nature and substance" of his almost 400-page report.
I didn't know that a President could ask an attorney general to open an investigation.
Not every reaction has been as serious.
"A source familiar says House Judiciary has begun discussions directly w/ Mueller's team about coming to testify before the cmte but nothing has been finalized at this point + no date has been set". Perhaps sending a message to the administration about what happens when you ignore Congress, Cohen devoured the chicken in front of the cameras. Mr Barr responded, "No, I don't".
Even as Democrats struggle with Barr, they are in hot pursuit of Mueller's testimony.
Two committees of the Democrat-controlled U.S. House of Representatives on Friday asked to intervene in a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump, his three oldest children and the Trump Organization seeking to block House subpoenas seeking financial records from Deutsche Bank AG and Capital One Financial Corp. "Congress shouldn't be looking anymore".
This is the same Napolitano who told us Trump committed a felony and will be indicted over what is, at worst, a campaign finance violation that might result in a fine.
Democrats say they are just getting started.
