Prince William and Kate celebrate eighth anniversary

Yesterday was Prince William and Catherine's eighth wedding anniversary and the best gift they received came from the Queen herself: Princess Kate was appointed Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.

It is unclear if William and Kate will be together to celebrate the anniversary, as he traveled to New Zealand last week while she joined Prince Harry for a special Anzac Day service in London.

In 2019, the Dame Grand Cross of the Victoria Order honor is "made personally by the Queen, for services to the Sovereign" and is the highest rank in the order.

Kate Middleton paid tribute to her husband on their wedding day. She will also continue to wear a yellow badge, which indicates the Royal Family Order.

They are now parents to Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, who is soon to be four and one-year-old Prince Louis.

The monarchy's official website says about the duchess: "She has been hugely inspired by the leadership the Queen has provided for over 60 years and will continue to play her part in supporting and celebrating the Queen in the United Kingdom and around the Commonwealth wherever possible".
