A Des Moines Register survey indicates that voters in Iowa still prefer Biden and Sen. Sanders, a Vermont senator, is the first choice for 16% of poll respondents, while Warren, a MA senator, and Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana, are at 15% and 14% respectively. That's more than any other candidate. Kamala Harris comes closest at 7%, and other numbers within the poll indicate some underlying strengths for her.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren avoided the abortion funding debate and instead outlined her hidden criticism of Biden through a focus on removing moneyed interests from politics.

Critics of the former Vice President say that he is making the campaign all about Trump in an attempt to white-wash his own "problematic record" and referring to Biden as "MisterMcGrabby".

In his trip to Iowa, the president was due to visit an ethanol plant to tout his backing for the biofuel, supplied by Iowa's politically important farmers. A political party is much like a brand name, and without that brand name to guide them, numerous lesser-informed voters opt to not participate in the caucuses and primaries, which leaves the decision more in the hands of those who are more intense about politics.

An internal poll conducted by President Trump's reelection campaign found Mr. Trump trailing former Vice President Joe Biden in some key battleground states in a hypothetical general election matchup, according to two sources with knowledge of the poll.

The showdown between Biden and Trump began earlier in the day.

When asked who they would support in the 2020 Democratic primary, MA voters picked Joe Biden (22 percent) over Warren (10 percent) by a significant margin.
