Chargers beat Eagles in Home Opener

(Philadelphia PA) On Sunday September 15 from Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia, the Eagles hosted the San Diego Chargers in their home Opener, Eagles came into game off a 33-27 win over Redskins, Chargers came into game off a Loss to the Houston Texans 31-28. Game was Broadcasted on CBS with Greg Gumbel & Dan Dierdorf
The Eagles won the toss & elects to receive, the Chargers got on board first with a 49 yard field goal by Nick Novak for early 3-0 lead, the Eagles would respond when Vick hits LeSean McCoy for 70 yard catch down to Chargers 5 yard line, then kick field goal to even everything at 3 & would remain like that for rest of 1st quarter, the Chargers would retake the lead in the 2nd quarter when Phillip Rivers would hit Eddie Royal for 11 Yard touchdown pass for a 10-3 lead, the Chargers would add another FG by Novak for a 13-3 lead halfway through 2nd qtr. Eagles would cut the lead to 3 when Vick hits Riley Cooper for a 13 yard touchdown, then the Eagles defense would take over by forcing back to back fumbles in the red zone late in 2nd qtr., the first one was by Antonio gates on Eagles 2 yard line, recovered by Casey Matthews, the 2nd one was Ryan Matthews on Eagles 8 yard line & recovered by Mychal Kendricks. Eagles would miss a 46 yard field goal to end 1st half, Chargers lead 13-10.
Chargers got ball to start 2nd half, & on 1st drive of 2nd half, a nasty injury happened when DeMeco Ryans nails a big hit to Chargers WR Malcolm Floyd & remain on field for several minutes & was carted off the field. The drive continues when Rivers hits Eddie Royal on 3rd & 10 for a 24 yard touchdown to make it 20-10 Chargers. The Eagles come back & hit a 48 yard field goal to cut Chargers lead to 20-13. With 5 minutes left in 3rd the Eagles would tie the game at 20 when Vick hits DeSean Jackson for 61 yard touchdown. The Chargers would kick field goal to retake the lead at 23-20 early in 4th quarter. The Eagles would respond when Vick run it into end zone from 2 yards out to give Eagles a 27-23 lead with 7 minutes left. The Chargers come back & retook the lead when Rivers hits Eddie Royal for his 3rd touchdown of game from 15 yards out to make it 30-27 with under 4 minutes left in the 4th qtr, the Eagles would drive down the field & tie the game at 30 on a 32 yard field goal by Alex Henry with under 2 minutes left, the Chargers drive down & Nick Novak would kick the game winning 46 yard field goal as the Chargers win 33-30. The Eagles need to regroup as the host Andy Reid & Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday September 19. Chargers head to Tennessee on Sep 22
