From A Fan With Liebe

Have you been one of many that have seen one of a kind US Women’s National Team tee shirts, but are not sure where they came from? Shirts like “USWNT: Greatness Was Never Lost”, “You have been WAMBACHED!”, or “Can you bend it like pinoe?” Those designs come from Meggan Vanberg, creator of USWNTtees. I caught up with Meggan recently to see where her inspiration for her designs come from and how she got started with USWNTtees.

Danielle Grote: What is USNWTtees?

Meggan Vanberg: USWNTtees is my online shirt company! But really USWNTtees is a friendly company providing all the USWNT fans to get shirts that are not $35 a shirt. Our shirts are unique and customizable. So in a short answer USWNTtees is any USWNT fans way of getting the shirt they want and when they want it!

Danielle Grote: How did you get started with USWNTtees?

Meggan Vanberg: About a year ago, I was on ussoccer.com looking at all the awesome shirts they had, but as I was looking I wanted ones that were more than a name on the back of a jersey with a number and a logo. So I got on the computer and designed my own.  Not only was it $15 dollars cheaper, it was unique and no one else had it! so I decided to make a site so other people could have cool shirts and more of them for cheaper!  Twitter was my savior.  I created my Twitter account and the response has been great!

Danielle Grote: Have you always been a fan of the USWNT?

Meggan Vanberg: I actually haven’t always been a fan, about three years ago I started watching them, and then when the World Cup came I watched every game, and kind of became obsessed! I now call my self a fanatic fan, I never miss a game!

Danielle Grote: How do you come up with your designs?

Meggan Vanberg: My designs are inspired by the USWNT players, because I’m a fan I connect with other fans get their opinions and see what they want! I will literally sit on my computer and change a design or just mess around with designs. I even had a design come to me in a dream… weird right?

Danielle Grote: Are you going to have an NWSL line of shirts as well?

Meggan Vanberg: Now the answer to this question is yes, When the allocation of the teams came out I created a generic NWSL shirt and a Seattle Reign shirt. I will be adding more most definitely. Fans can and need to tell me what they want I create these for them!

Danielle Grote: What is your goal with USWNTtees?

Meggan Vanberg: My goal with USWNTtees is really just to make the fans happy! Honestly I’m not in it for the money. For example somebody wanted to buy one of my shirts with a gift-card, but with shipping they were short like 3 dollars so I dropped the price so he could get and I actually made -1 dollars. My goal is to spread the news of the USWNT around the world!
