Villanova Women’s Basketball wins Big 5 Title

On Wednesday Janaury 16th from the Cathedral of College Basketball The Palestra on the campus of University of Pennsylvania. it was a Big 5 Women’s basketball battle between the Villanova Wildcats vs. the Penn Quakers. Penn came into this game coming off a 77-47 loss to Princton on January 12, while Villanova came into the game coming off a 68-52 win over Pittsburgh. Villanova started the game with the ball and the first points of the game went to Villanova’s Taylor Holeman for two points. The first points for Penn went to Keiera Ray for two points. Villanova’s Caroline Coyer and Penn Guard Alyssa Baron were leading their teams in first half. Penn took a 23-21 halftime lead. Leading Scorers for Villanova in the 1st Half was Caroline Coyer & Taylor Holeman each with five points & the leading scorer for Penn in the first half was Alyssa Baron with 11 points.
Penn Started the second half with the ball & they increased their lead to 29-21 before Villanova Scores its 1st Points of 2nd Half by Laura Sweeney. it was a very tight defensive battle for the entire second half, Villanova would hold on to a 48-44 Win over Penn to win the Big 5 championship for 2012-13 Season.
Final Stats: Penn Alyssa Baron finished with 18 points, Villanova Laura Sweeney finished with 19 points
