Weekend: What to Watch


With snow looming this weekend, now is a good a time as any to start our newest column here at PSL.  We proudly introduce to you your weekend guide to the sports world, with all the games and match-ups we think you should be watching.  Since there is a good chance everyone may be snowed in for a little bit tomorrow, let’s take a look at Saturday’s action.

Saturday, 12/29/12:

Barclays Premiere League (Soccer): Manchester United vs. West Bromwich Albion.  Sixth place West Brom takes on first place Man U from Old Trafford Saturday morning at 9:55 a.m. ESPN 2

College Football: The New Era Pinstripe Bowl; West Virginia vs. Syracuse.  The Moutaineers make their tenth straight bowl appearance while Syracuse leads the series 32-27.  Live from Yankee Stadium at 3:15 p.m. ESPN

Valero Alamo Bowl; Texas vs. Oregon State.  The Beavers are 6-2 in bowl games since 2000, while the Longhorns lead the series all-time, 2-0.  6:45 p.m. ESPN

Sunday, 12/30/2012:

Barclays Premiere League: Everton vs. Chelsea.  Fifth place Everton takes on third place Chelsea from Goodison Park.  Everton are the winners of two straight are are unbeaten in their last six, while Chelsea are on a hot three match win streak which includes an 8-0 pounding they gave to Aston Villa.  8:30 a.m. Fox Soccer Channel

Queens Park Rangers vs. Liverpool.  Directly following the Everton/Chelsea fixture, QPR will take on the Reds from Loftus Road.  QPR have lost two of their last three, while Liverpool is 3-3 in their last six.  10:30 a.m. Fox Soccer Channel

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants.  The Eagles head to Met Life Stadium to take on the Giants in what could be Andy Reid and Michael Vick’s last game as head coach and quarterback respectively.  Look for both coach and QB to not hold anything back as they try and keep their jobs. 1:00 p.m. FOX

Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins.  It’s an all out battle for the NFC East title as the Skins take on the Boys from Fed Ex Field.  RG3 and the Skins defeated Romo and his Cowboys earlier in the season and are looking to double up and grab the NFC East in the process.  Dallas meanwhile is coming off a tough overtime Christmas loss to the Saints. 8:20 p.m. NBC
