News broke this morning via @EaglesInsider that Brian Westbrook announced his retirement as a Philadelphia Eagle. Westbrook will speak live tomorrow at 11:30am Eastern on PhiladelphiaEagles.com concerning his retirement. We will be streaming the press conference live on our site as well. Westbrook spent eight (mostly productive) years with Eagles. He rushed for 5,995 while also producing 37 touchdowns. Many remember Westbrook as a quick running back who could also catch out of the backfield, hence the 3,790 receiving yards for 29 touchdowns (numbers via Philly.com). Westbrook, Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens helped lead the Eagles to the Superbowl in the ’04-’05 season.
Westbrook is one of three high-profile, former Eagles’ players that are retiring this season, joining Brian Dawkins and Tra Thomas.
