Brown beats Penn at Palestra

Philadelphia PA: On Friday February 28 from the Cathedral of College Basketball The Palestra on the campus of University of Pennsylvania, The Penn Quakers hosted the Brown Bears in Ivy League Action. Penn came into game with 7-16 (4-5 in Ivy League) and coming off a win over Dartmouth on February 22, Brown comes into game with a 14-10 (6-4 in Ivy League) and off a win over Cornell also on February 22. The game was broadcasted Nationally on NBC Sports Network with Steve Schlanger and Dalen Cuff calling the action.

Penn won the opening tip to start the game, the games first points came from Brown Sean McGonagill for layup, Penn would get on the board from a 3 pointer from Miles Cartwright. Brown had everything going for them as Penn would make some costly turnovers and could not take advantage of some bad plays from Brown. Penn Tony Hicks keep the Quakers in this game in the first half as he would drop 17 points to get Penn within 4 as Brown took a 37-33 into halftime

Things would not get any better for Penn in the 2nd half as they would make multiple attempts to get back into this game to but Brown prevented them from making that happen as Brown would increase their lead to 16 at 67-51 with 4:26 left in 2nd half. Penn would make a run late in the 2nd half and got the lead down to 5 with under a minute to go but the comeback would come up short as Brown holds on for a 76-67 win.

Tony Hicks: 25 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3-5 from foul line
Fran Dougherty: 12 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks

Brown Bears:
Cedric Kuakumensah: 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks
Steven Spieth: 19 points, 12 rebounds, 6-7 from foul line
