Cleveland Gladiators Beat Philly in Overtime

(Philadelphia PA)- On Saturday April 20 from the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Soul of ArenaFootball League opened their home schedule for 2013 season against the Cleveland Gladiators. The Soul came into the game off a Win over Iowa Barnstormers on April 13. Cleveland came into game off a loss to Jacksonville Sharks on April 6. Cleveland won the coin toss & started the game with the ball. The first points of the game came from Cleveland Gladiators on 6 yard touchdown to Jonathan Wilson for the early 7-0 lead. The Philadelphia Soul first points of game came from Derrick Ross on two yard touchdown run to tie game at 7. Soul LaRico Stevenson would add a 6 yard fumble recovery for touchdown for a 14-7 lead at the end of first quarter. Both teams would trade touchdowns in the second quarter. the Soul took a 35-21 lead into halftime.

The Philadelphia Soul started with the ballt o begin the second half. The game got very tight near the end, Cleveland took its first lead of game since early in first quarter when Thyron Lewis scored a 18 yard touchdown with 47 seconds left in fourth quarter giving Cleveland a 54-50 lead. the Soul takes the lead back on touchdown from Tiger Jones to make it 57-54. Cleveland hits a 45 yard field goal to tie the game at 57 & we got overtime.

Cleveland won the coin toss to start overtime & they would drive down to score a touchdown by Thyron Lewis from 16 yards out to give Cleveland a64-57 lead, The soul get their poession in overtime. The game comes down to a 4th & 15 Soul QB Dan Raudabaugh pass to Tiger Jones goes incomplete. Cleveland Holds on for a 64-57 win for their first win of season. The soul will play jacksonville next week in a rematch of last years AFL conference championship game which was won by Philadelphia.

Soul WR Tiger Jones had 13 Catches for 143 Yards & 3 TDS
Soul QB Dan Raudabaugh was 31-50 for 306 yards & 5 TDS
Soul RB Derrick Ross had 6 rush attempts for 17 yards & 2 TDS
