13 US Open 1st Round Recap

Philadelphia, PA — On Thursday June 13 from Historice Merion Golf Club in Ardmore PA, the 2013 US Open got on their way with Round 1 . The first groups that would tee off were Cliff Kresge, & Roger Tambellini at 6:45AM on Hole 1 & Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson & Nicolas Colsaerts start at 7AM on Hole 11. The Interesting story line going into 1st round of play was Phil Mickelson flying from California after seeing his daughter 8th grade graduation, he took a redeye flight & landed in Philly at 3:30 AM,& arrived at Merion at 5:37 AM for his 7:11 AM tee time. Ian Poulter would birdie the first 3 holes to take the early lead before play would be suspended for a weather delay at 8:36 AM, play would resume at 12:08PM, the delay lasted 3 hours & 32 minutes. Phil Mickelson would start to heat up in late afternoon and take the lead at -3. Luke Donald would take the lead at -4 as the Horn sounded at 8:13 PM to suspend play for the night due to darkness, the first round resumes at 7:15 AM for those remain on the course & after that the second round would take place. The featured pairing of 1st round was Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy & Adam Scott tee off at 4:43 PM & they managed to get 11 holes in. There were some interesting moments through out the first round of us open:
1. Ernie Els, almost had Hole in One on number 9, the ball hit the Wicker basket & stayed out

2. Tiger Woods makes a long putt on hole 6 for a birdie

3. Lee Westwood chips in for birdie on hole 7
